Base Laying
When fitting your building we require a level area on which to erect your building.
If we are to erect your building we provide three base options and the must suitable
will depend on your building and ground conditions.
Bearers-:
Bearers are the quickest and cheapest base solution. This base consists of laying
loose 3” x 3” tanalised bearers and must be placed onto a relatively level and dry
ground. The bearers are then levelled using packers. The tanalised treatment protects
the timber against rot and decay and normally have a service life of around 15 years.
Ladderack-:
A Ladderack can be an alternative to a concrete base and has the benefits of being
strong yet cost effective and easy to remove. It is ideal if you have a large building,
slope or two uneven surfaces.
We create an outer frame using 3” x 2” tanalised timber screwed together. We then
attach struts along the frame for support. The Ladderack is then levelled using packers
and in some cases we may attach legs to the base. In cases where the ground is soft
or needs extra support we may need to concrete the legs into ground.
Concrete Base-:
A concrete base is our recommend and preferred option as it will provide a long-lasting,
stable and permanent base. We normally lay a 3” or 4” base upon membrane. The base
is usually made an 1” smaller all the way round to prevent water getting onto the
base. We will require kind access to a water supply when laying a concrete base.
If there is a significant slope of the ground, an extra charge may be incurred if
extra materials need to be used.
Insulation & Double Glazing
We can fully insulate your building to give you whole year-round use of your garden
building. Insulation is a essential addition providing comfort and protection especially
during the coldest winter months. We can provide a complete package including full
insulation of the floor, walls and roof. We can even install double glazed units
for maximum energy efficiency and performance.
There are three grades of insulation to choose from - fibreglass, polystyrene and
high performance celotex type. If moisture is a concern we are also able to install
a membrane lining which helps prevent moisture and reduce condensation. Once insulated
the building must then be lined to protect and hold the insulation. We offer two
type of final lining either 9 mm plywood which can be painted at a later date or
T&G lining to match the natural exterior of the building. Insulation of your building
can be carried out with the assembly of your building.
